Position Overview &Beyond is seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Accounting Officerto support financial management, reporting, internal controls, and operational accounting activities at Lake Manyara Tree Lodge. The successful candidate will ensure accurate financial records, effective cost management, compliance with internal controls, and timely financial reporting. Key Responsibilities 1. Financial Management Ensure correct authorization and allocation of business expenditure. Independently assess and question proposed expenses to ensure value, fairness, and alignment with market standards. Ensure timely and accurate recording of financial transactions using the Pan Strat systemor manual systems. Prepare supplier payment requests. Interpret and analyze management accounts. Assist with payroll preparation and reconciliations. Resolve general ledger queries. Resolve balance sheet reconciliation issues. Manage and update stock records. 2. Financial Reporting Meet all finance reporting deadlines. Provide timely feedback on management accounts to the Regional Finance. Lead monthly finance meetings to review financial performance and communicate feedback. Assist in preparing budgets and quarterly forecasts. Support lodge managers and directors with financial queries. Assist with year-end audits. Reconcile accounts, including clearing accounts and inter-lodge transactions. Supervise finance reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with expected standards. 3. Internal Controls & Asset Protection Maintain effective stock control procedures. Assist with monthly stock counts. Monitor, develop, and update internal controls within the lodge. Conduct documented internal audits and spot checks where required. Apply professional skepticism in daily financial activities. Investigate and follow up suspected losses or control breaches. Report any risks that may result in loss of company assets. Ensure company assets are properly recorded, safeguarded, and maintained. Take responsibility for: Petty cash management Mobile wallets Company bank accounts Petty cash management Mobile wallets Company bank accounts Conduct regular audits of safari shop systems and processes. Maintain accurate financial documentation and records. 4. Training & Support Support staff in using the Pan Strat system. Train lodge employees on accounting principles. Review and train Front of House systems users. Qualifications & Experience Applicants should have: A3-year Finance Degreeor relevant accounting qualification. Preference will be given to candidates with CPA qualification. 3–4 years of relevant finance/accounting experience. Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel basics. Experience with Pan Strat systemis an added advantage. Fluency in English (written and spoken).
