How to write a CV for employers in Zimbabwe
Zimbabwean employers, NGOs and regional recruiters receive many applications by email and through job boards. A sober layout, a professional email address and clear, checkable referees help your CV through the first sift.
These are common practice, not rules. When an advert asks for something different, follow the advert.
- Length
- 2 pages is the standard for most roles.
- Style
- Traditional and professional: plain fonts, little colour, no heavy graphics.
- Photo
- Usually left off. Many employers prefer no photo or personal details like age.
- Experience
- Most recent first, 3 to 5 bullet points per job, each starting with a strong verb.
- Referees
- At least 2 with name, title, employer and contact details, or "available on request".
- When you email a CV, use the subject "Application: Job Title, Your Name".
