How to write a CV for employers in Zambia
Mining companies, banks, NGOs and the public service in Zambia often ask for certified documents alongside the CV, and referees are expected to be listed and reachable. A tidy, factual CV with your qualifications easy to find goes a long way.
These are common practice, not rules. When an advert asks for something different, follow the advert.
- Length
- 2 pages for most roles, 1 page early in your career, 3 only for long senior careers.
- Personal details
- Name, phone with +260, email and town. Formal and government roles often ask for your NRC number.
- Education
- Your Grade 12 results still matter to many employers, especially the public service.
- Referees
- Expected on the CV itself: 2 to 3 with title, organisation, phone and email.
- Layout
- A4, a clear font such as Arial or Calibri, bullet points instead of paragraphs.
- File
- PDF, so it looks the same on every device.
