How to write a CV for employers in Rwanda
Public service jobs in Rwanda are applied for online through the government e-recruitment platform, and NGOs and private employers mostly hire through job boards and email. Every route expects a PDF CV in English.
These are common practice, not rules. When an advert asks for something different, follow the advert.
- Language
- English for formal CVs. Listing Kinyarwanda, French and Swahili levels helps.
- Length
- 2 pages for most people; 3 is acceptable for senior or project-heavy careers.
- Photo
- A professional passport-style photo is common on Rwandan CVs.
- Personal details
- Name, phone, email and district. Public service roles ask for your national ID number.
- Referees
- 2 to 3 with full contact details, ideally including one in Rwanda.
- File
- PDF. Public service applications also ask for certificates as PDFs.
