Key Responsibilities Produce original video storytelling by identifying under-reported stories, emerging trends, and unique angles. Support coverage of major news events and breaking developments. Exercise editorial judgment when making decisions on story direction, treatment, and prioritisation. Capture content in multiple formats including vertical, square, and horizontal video formats for different platforms. Develop innovative storytelling formats and audience engagement approaches. Ensure editorial accuracy, quality, and consistency across all digital outputs. Apply safety, risk management, and ethical considerations when reporting sensitive stories. Optimise field production and editing workflows while maintaining high-quality output. Represent BBC professionally when engaging with contributors, partners, and audiences. Required Skills & Experience Essential Requirements Proven ability to shoot and edit professional video content with strong visual storytelling skills. Experience using video editing tools such asFinal Cut Pro (FCPx)andQEdit. Strong understanding of digital platforms and audience engagement strategies. Excellent scriptwriting and storytelling abilities. Ability to simplify complex topics into engaging digital content. Strong visual judgement and understanding of compelling video formats. Advanced story structuring skills, including creating content that captures attention within the first few seconds. Knowledge of multi-format video production for different platforms. Understanding of copyright, permissions, rights management, and digital content compliance. Awareness of safety and ethical considerations in field reporting. Ability to work independently and make editorial decisions in fast-paced environments. Desirable Skills Knowledge of motion graphics and visual enhancement techniques. Strong production planning and logistical coordination skills. Cultural awareness and sensitivity when reporting diverse communities. Ability to work under pressure while maintaining editorial standards. Understanding of efficient content production workflows and turnaround optimisation.
