Job Purpose
Assist the Head of Sharia and Products in product development, policy formulation, regulatory/Sharia compliance, and staff training. The manager conducts Sharia research, ensures profit distribution aligns with approved models, oversees product lifecycle performance, and supports marketing and financing operations to keep the bank compliant with domestic standards and international Islamic finance standards (such as AAOIFI, IFSB, and the OIC Fiqh Academy).
Key Responsibilities
Policy & Contract Management: Assist in reviewing policies, manuals, financing contract packages, forms, product guides, and documentation annually.
Research & Board Support: Conduct research on Sharia issues, fatwas, and product structures prior to presentation to the Sharia Supervisory Board (SSB); prepare product and board papers in a timely manner.
Profit Distribution & Fund Administration: Ensure profit is fairly distributed to depositors per the profit distribution model (PDM), and administer Charity and Zakat Fund activities.
Product Development & Innovation: Assist in developing new Sharia-compliant products, enhancing existing offerings, and conducting quarterly product performance assessments.
Compliance & Operational Support: Review marketing materials, promotional content, and social media posts for Sharia alignment; support financing departments and branches to ensure facilities adhere to product manuals; follow up on inventory sales prior to customer use/sale.
Training & Guidance: Provide technical guidance to clients and staff; prepare training materials and deliver sessions on Islamic financing instruments, pricing dynamics, and documentation requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: Degree in Islamic Banking and Finance, OR a Degree in Banking, Finance, or Commerce accompanied by an additional certification or diploma in Islamic Banking and Finance.
Preferred Qualification: Professional qualifications in Islamic Banking, Sharia (Jurisprudence), or Islamic Studies serve as an added advantage.
Core Competencies:
Strong research, analytical, writing, and problem-solving skills.
Commercial thinking combined with a deep Sharia-compliant mindset.
Practical understanding of Islamic Banking within the Tanzanian financial context.
Proven ability to train, mentor, present, and communicate effectively.
