Job Purpose The Engineer 1 – Open Pit Planning will provide day-to-day technical support to the production team to ensure compliance with approved mining plans. The role will also monitor pit, waste dump, and other construction designs, coordinate with mining and project execution teams, and prepare weekly plans, production reports, and Bench Operating Plans. Key Responsibilities Follow safe working procedures and proactively address operational safety matters. Prepare weekly pit plans, Bench Operating Plans, and Daily Dig Plans in line with monthly plans and required standards. Check achievement of NAF and PAF boundaries. Monitor compliance with approved pit and stockpile designs. Use Vulcan or Datamine for short-term planning, design checks, planning changes, and production analysis. Coordinate planning inputs from geology, mining production, geotechnical, and engineering teams. Monitor broken stock levels, equipment productivity, utilization, and selected operational costs. Provide timely feedback on operational risks and opportunities. Provide technical support to production teams to ensure mining activities remain aligned with approved plans. Education and Qualifications Tertiary qualification inMining Engineering or Civil Engineering. Registered as aGraduate Mining Engineer by the Engineers Registration Board (ERB). ValidTanzania Driving Licence. Required Experience At least3 years of relevant experiencein the mining industry, preferably in open-pit operations. At least1 year of training exposureacross other mine sections, including:GeologySurveyLong-term planningProductionDrill and blast Geology Survey Long-term planning Production Drill and blast Experience inshort-term planningwithin a mechanized open-pit mining environment. Knowledge and Skills Experience using mining software such as:VulcanDatamineSPRYRapid Reserveror similar mining software. Vulcan Datamine SPRY Rapid Reserver or similar mining software. Experience using spreadsheets and database software. Good written and verbal communication skills in English. Ability to work effectively with technical teams, operational departments, and contractors. Ability to provide on-site technical support and respond when mining execution does not align with approved plans.
