Raising The Village (RTV) is an international development organization dedicated to eradicating ultra-poverty in Sub-Saharan Africa. Operating across Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, and DRC, RTV leverages community-driven interventions and advanced data analytics to uplift rural communities. The Venn department serves as the data and technology backbone, ensuring evidence-based decision-making through rigorous monitoring and evaluation.
Role Overview
Part-time Data Collectors are responsible for gathering accurate, high-quality field data across target districts to support RTV’s program evaluation, resource planning, and impact assessment. Working under the direct supervision of the Venn team, data collectors execute household surveys, ensure strict compliance with ethical guidelines, and maintain data integrity using digital survey applications.
Key Responsibilities
1. Survey Execution & Data Collection
Attend specialized training modules on evaluation protocols and digital survey tools.
Participate in tool pretesting to ensure operational functionality before field deployment.
Conduct formal informed consent processes with local authorities and survey respondents prior to interviews. Part-time Data Collectors
Administer structured interviews and surveys in full accordance with assigned work plans and daily targets. Part Time Data Collectors
2. Data Quality & Ethical Compliance
Clean, review, and verify all collected data for accuracy, completeness, and internal consistency prior to submission.
Strict adherence to respondent confidentiality, data security protocols, and RTV ethical standards in rural community settings.
Securely manage and maintain RTV digital equipment (tablets, power banks, chargers, and field bags).
Qualifications & Requirements
Academic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in any field from a recognized institution.
Work Experience & Technical Skills
Experience: 1 to 2 years of experience; prior background in research, field data collection, or survey management is an added advantage.
Digital Tools: Hands-on proficiency with mobile data collection platforms, specifically SurveyCTO and Survey123 , alongside Microsoft Excel.
Methodology: Demonstrated skill in interview probing techniques and field data verification.
Core Competencies & Physical Requirements
Physical Stamina: Ability to travel extensively and conduct long hours of field visits on foot in remote, hard-to-reach rural areas.
Residency: Local residents of Kyerwa, Karagwe, Missenyi, or Muleba districts are strongly preferred.
Language Skills: Fluency in Kiswahili is mandatory; good working knowledge of English is preferred. Proficiency in local languages ( Kihaya or Kinyambo ) is an added advantage.
High personal integrity, strong interpersonal skills, and the capacity to work independently under minimal supervision.
